21

Twenty-one is my lucky number, and I have a little superstition: Something amazingly good always happens on "21" days. Today has been no exception.

Best thing first: Today was the day I discovered Ian's Pizza on State Street. I went over there because I heard that people were calling in orders from all over the world to help feed hungry protesters at the Capitol. I wanted to get a photo of the chalkboard that listed where the orders were coming from, while still capturing the hustle and bustle of the staff. While I was there, the staff invited me to try a slice and told me that everything -- pizza, drinks, whatever -- was free. Yum :-)

The outdoor rally at noon. That's a wolf skin this guy is wearing, in case you're wondering.

Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine played a set at noon and gave a rousing speech outside, then came indoors and addressed the crowd in the rotunda.

A reporter from a Japanese news station:

Clever signs made out of pizza boxes:

And today I finally found, courtesy of an unknown protester (probably a teacher), the famed fossilized starfish that's embedded in the steps at the Capitol. Any Wisconsin schoolkid could probably tell you where this is, but I had never seen it before.

And I saw John Oliver from The Daily Show! I can't believe he can still find people who don't know who he is, but judging from the look on this guy's face, it looks like he did ;-)

A pretty good 21 day, no?
