WPJA contest entries

One of my favorite things to do is browse the Wedding Photojournalist Association website -- I always find amazing inspiration there. We have two weddings left this season and I can't wait to try out some new ideas!

The WPJA holds quarterly contests, which are entered by photographers around the world. The rules are really strict -- no photoshopping (conversion to black-and-white is allowed), no posing, and all the photos must be taken by the WPJA member (so you won't see any of Eric's amazing shots in my entry).

Here are a few of the photos I entered in the contest this past weekend:

Kristin getting ready:

Anna's sister-in-law giving her a healing touch when tensions were running high:

Ashley tying her bridesmaid's sash:

Lindsay, her sister, and her mother reacting when Andy (the groom) came to the front door while Lindsay was still getting ready. I love their different reactions -- I had only met Lindsay about ten minutes earlier and I could already tell she would be a laid-back, relaxed, and happy bride...

And we usually don't get too many photos of the groom getting ready, but I just happened to walk in the room when Chris and his groomsmen were duct-taping and ironing a tuxedo that had been tailored improperly. Yeah that's right: they were duct-taping the sleeves of a tuxedo. I love this photo!

One of the categories this time around was "parents." This one of Camden's mother helping him get ready is one of my favorite parent pics ever.

And I love this one of Todd's parents clowning around!

Another of the categories was "ceremony." I've noticed that the judges often recognize images that show the unexpected -- especially if it's humorous. So I thought this one might have a chance. Molly and Greg's celebrant mixed up their names at the end of the ceremony. The celebrant was aghast, but Molly and Greg were cool with it ;-)

OK, so that's most of my entry... Cross your fingers for me!
