A community of photographers

We're relatively new in town (been here less than a year) but I get the sense that a lot of creative types around here go to Madison or Milwaukee to commune with like-minded souls. I know I do ; )

But I think we should also do something to develop and encourage the talent we have right here. I met photographer Katie Walling last fall and I was really impressed with her technical skill and friendly personality. There are other photographers in the area whom I've been meaning to contact, too, and I've recently been receiving requests from aspiring photographers who want to assist or second-shoot with me.

Everyone is busy right now, but when things slow down this fall -- maybe October -- I'm hoping to start up an informal group of pro (and wanna-be pro) photographers in the Fort Atkinson - Lake Mills - Janesville area, with the aim of getting together fairly regularly throughout the winter to swap stories and ideas, show photos, try out new techniques, and offer support and camaraderie.
